(Photo courtesy SoCalGas Facebook)Southern California Gas Co. announced Thursday it will convert 200 new Ford F-250 service pickup trucks to run on renewable natural gas, a renewable form of energy produced from a variety of waste streams.Outfitting the service trucks with a California Air Resource Board certified ultra-low emissions vehicles system by Landi Renzo USA is expected to reduce more than 2,000 metric tons of CO2 equivalent per year, which is equivalent to taking 1,800 passenger vehicles off the road for one year. With the addition of the 200 new net-zero emissions service trucks, nearly 40% of SoCalGas’ service vehicles will run on clean fuels, according to the utility. The fleet conversion is expected to be complete by the end of the year.“This project is one of the many decarbonizing initiatives we’re implementing here at SoCalGas as we continue to move towards a net zero future,” said Sandra Hrna, vice president of supply chain and operations support. “In order to achieve our sustainability goals, we work to build strong relationships with innovative partners to help us continue delivering technologies to further decarbonize the transportation sector.”Putting more clean trucks on the road is a key part of SoCalGas’ commitment to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions in its operations and delivery of energy by 2045.RNG is a renewable form of energy produced from the waste streams at dairy farms, wastewater treatment plants, landfills and other sources. Depending on its source, RNG can be carbon negative, meaning it avoids more emissions than it emits when produced and used as a fuel. Capturing the methane from these waste sources and converting it into RNG keeps greenhouse gas emissions with high global warming potential from entering the atmosphere and reduces the use of fossil fuels.Landi Renzo USA is partnering with two local companies on the conversion project — Phenix Truck Body and CTEC Truck Body. HrTurizam.hr – With you for two years

first_imgExactly two years ago, I started from literally nothing, but with a clear mission – to be a positive change in a new tourist paradigm. And after all the day-to-day struggles, when at the end of the day you get the support and respect of a profession that you can’t buy but just earn, I have to be and I’m certainly proud of. It is this energy that gives me the wind in my back and is proof that I am on the right track.”Dream big. Start small. But most of all, startSaid Simon Sinek. This is how the HrTurizam.hr portal started, and this is how I continue to take on new challenges. In 2018, the HrTurizam.hr portal will expand and generate new values both through the project “Knowledge is power” which is currently being prepared, as well as through various other initiatives and projects.Thank you immensely for your daily support and reading over these two years. Without you, all this would not be possible today. Believe me, this is not a cliché, because in two years I literally gave my whole self to the portal, and without the positive reaction and your support, there would be no portal. When I started, everyone thought I was crazy and that there was no chance that my vision would come true, and today HrTurizam.hr is the leading tourist portal in Croatia. I live my dream day by day, of course the ups and downs are normal and today in Croatia it is not easy to be an entrepreneur, but you need to believe in yourself and be proactive. The right time for entrepreneurship is right now. My story started with a blog, first on Medium.com and then for Večernjak’s blogosphere where the idea for the portal was born, and the rest is history. I started literally from the idea, made a long-term plan and put everything on paper and set off. Without any capital, even before the blog I never even wrote, but after a lot of effort and work today I can proudly say that this is another successful one from blog to entrepreneurship. Certainly not easy, but not impossible either, in fact, just go and believe in yourself. You have nothing to lose, you can only profit. As I do everything myself, it is not clear to me how I manage to get everything from day to day, but I sincerely hope, in fact I am sure, that in 2018 that will change, and that HrTurizam.hr will expand at least for more one new member and ambassador of Croatian tourism. If you have any ideas and suggestions or constructive criticism of what needs to be fixed and in what direction you want the portal to develop, I will be happy for you to share your thoughts with me, because two heads are always smarter than one.I invite you to get involved and to continue to think loudly through constructive and argumentative discussion, share ideas, knowledge and experience, talk openly about all challenges because only then can we grow as individuals and as a society or profession. And don’t forget, tourism is made up of emotions, experiences and stories.Let’s tell stories, our authentic stories.<br />

Taiwan talks WHO role with US, China denounces ‘manipulation’

first_imgTaiwan and the United States this week discussed how to get “closer coordination” between the island and the World Health Organization (WHO) during the coronavirus outbreak, drawing a rebuke from China for “political manipulation” of the epidemic.Taiwan’s is excluded from the WHO due to diplomatic pressure from China, which considers it merely a wayward province with no right to the trappings of state. Its omission has become a major source of anger for the Taiwan, which says it has been unable to get first hand information from the WHO, putting lives on the island in danger for the sake of politics. Both the WHO and China say Taiwan has been given the help it needs. Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry expressed thanks to the United States on Friday for its “continued taking of concrete actions to support Taiwan’s participation in the WHO and other international organizations”.In Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said the United States and Taiwan were both well aware that members of the WHO must be sovereign states, and accused Taiwan of seeking political capital from the outbreak.”We hope they will not attempt to use this epidemic to engage in political manipulation,” she told a daily news briefing.US President Donald Trump signed a new law last month requiring increased support for Taiwan’s international role. China threatened unspecified retaliation in response.Like most countries the United States has only unofficial ties with the island, but is its strongest backer on the world stage.Taiwan has been far more successful than many of its neighbors keeping the virus in check thanks to early and stringent steps to control its spread. It has reported 348 cases and five deaths to date.In its latest measure, Health Minister Chen Shih-chung said on Friday people who don’t wear face masks on public transport would face fines of up to T$15,000  Topics :center_img The US State Department said on Thursday senior officials from the United States and Taiwan on Tuesday held a “virtual forum on expanding Taiwan’s participation on the global stage”, with particular focus on the WHO and how to share Taiwan’s successful model of fighting the coronavirus.”Participants also discussed ongoing efforts to reinstate Taiwan’s observer status at the World Health Assembly, as well as other avenues for closer coordination between Taiwan and the World Health Organization,” it said. The World Health Assembly is the WHO’s decision-making body.Taiwan attended it as an observer from 2009-2016 when Taipei-Beijing relations warmed, but China blocked further participation after the election of Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen, who China views as a separatist, charges she denies.last_img read more

Ben Foster commits monumental howler during Watford’s game against Arsenal

first_imgAdvertisement Comment AdvertisementAdvertisementThe Gabonese striker will not get an easier goal for the remainder of his Arsenal career, although he deserves credit for forcing Foster into an uncharacteristic error.Foster has been a revelation for Watford since arriving in a bargain £1.5m deal from West Brom last summer, making the fourth-highest number of saves in the Premier League. This wasn’t his finest moment, though, and it was compounded just over a minute later when Watford’s captain Troy Deeney was given a straight red card for an elbow on Lucas Torreira. Before the game, Watford manager Javi Gracia had talked Deeney up as the ‘best’ English striker in the Premier League.More: Arsenal FCArsenal flop Denis Suarez delivers verdict on Thomas Partey and Lucas Torreira movesThomas Partey debut? Joshua Ready to ‘Step up’ against Klitschko

first_imgThe unbeaten Brit has blown away every opponent put before him and has never been taken beyond the seventh round so far in his career, but faces arguably his toughest test against the two-time world champion.“When we’ve been training, we’ve always been training for fights like this. Even when I was fighting people who were not as talented or experienced as Klitschko, we were always training as if I was fighting better opponents,” Joshua told Sky Sports News HQ.“Now, I’m here, let’s get it on. Everyone has to step up in their career and I am just doing mine now, whether it was against Klitschko or any of the other champions.“It doesn’t matter if there are 90,000 people, 9,000 people or 900 people, as long as I win that’s the main thing and it is history making. Three and a bit years as a pro and I am making history, so I am happy about that side of things.”Meanwhile, Klitschko believes Anthony Joshua needs “big muscles” to make himself confident and does not want any excuses when he topples the IBF champion at Wembley.Joshua’s physical power has brought him 18 knockouts in his perfect professional career, but Klitschko compared him to a ‘CrossFit champion’ during a stinging analysis of the 27-year-old British fighter.Klitschko said: “AJ has a lot of energy, he’s young, he wants to be explosive, he has these big muscles that bring him confidence and he just wants to demolish people right in front of him. That’s what it is, it gives him a lot of confidence, but did you hear about boxing being a sweet science?“Every person would have got these big muscles. It gives you confidence and you really can smash if you hit the heavy bag, or the person in front of you. Boxing is sweet science. The vicious boxers were conquered.“I have a lot of respect for Anthony and what he is doing, his commitment, his physical ability. He can box, he can lift weights, he can be strong, he can train.“He can be a CrossFit champion actually, a CrossFit world champion. I think he has great capability of it. CrossFit became really popular and there are a lot of boxers doing it. But CrossFit is not boxing.”Share this:FacebookRedditTwitterPrintPinterestEmailWhatsAppSkypeLinkedInTumblrPocketTelegram Anthony Joshua admits it is time for him to “step up” in his career as he prepares to face Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium.Joshua is preparing to defend his IBF world heavyweight title against Klitschko (64-4 KO53) in front of 90,000 fans on April 29, with the vacant WBA strap also on the line.last_img read more

Oh brother! Max aims for a Hopkins’ double

first_img Max Hopkins freely admits that 2019 was a steep learning curve for him on and off the golf course. Now the Hertfordshire teenager is ready to find his best form in 2020 – and edge closer to the long-term dream of teaming up with big brother Jon as a professional.Hopkins felt his golf suffered a little last year as he focused on his schoolwork and knuckled down to his GCSEs.With the exams safely negotiated and the hard winter work well underway, Hopkins is now excited about the new season.Golf runs in the family. Older brother Jon, a plus two handicapper and pictured below, is currently at university in Mississippi and moving on to Florida. The youngest Hopkins brother hopes to follow a similar path as both siblings contemplate careers in the game.“My brother is 20 now and there’s not too much of a competitive streak between us yet as we haven’t really played much junior golf together,” said the 17-year-old.“Only now are we playing in the same men’s events and we will compete again in the summer.“We both want to become professionals.“It’s rare for brothers to get to that level so we’ll have to see how it pans out.“My dad Pete is into golf too and is better than average off a nine handicap. Me and my brother have obviously overtaken him. I think he’s proud!”The immediate focus for Hopkins in 2020 is on helping the England boys’ squad enjoy a successful season and getting closer to the individual win he craves.Last season he played in the European Team Championships and Home Internationals for England – winning the latter event.“I did well for England in 2019 and that’s a big thing,” added Hopkins who plays out of Bishop Stortford Golf Club.“But in the individual championships I didn’t perform as well as I’d have liked.“It was frustrating. I missed a few cuts by one.“I had GCSEs and while I can’t pin the blame on that solely it was a distraction from the golf.“I felt fine technically going into 2019, but I’m not sure the head was in the right place.“I’m still eligible for all the Under 18 events in 2020 as well as the men’s championships.“But I won’t go overboard with the men’s competitions. I don’t want to wear myself out. I will try and get into the English Amateur and Brabazon and not overdo it.”Hopkins is no stranger to the winner’s circle not only with England but on his own having won the Telegraph Junior Masters in 2017 (pictured above). Now he’s eager for the 2020 campaign to begin and continue his golfing journey. That journey started when he got his first set of medal clubs before his second birthday and kicked on when he joined his local club aged six.“I’m feeling good about 2020,” confirmed Hopkins.“I want to do well individually and hopefully that gets me picked for England. Ideally. I’d like to win at national level. That’s a goal.“I feel it’s about time.“Hopefully, a lot will follow on from that.”Main Photograph credit: Leaderboard Tags: England Boys’ Squad, Hertfordshire, Jon Hopkins, Max Hopkins 10 Feb 2020 Oh brother!
