STS9 Busts Out The First “Havona Ascent” In 12 Years To Open NYE Run [Video/Setlist]

first_imgTo say that Sound Tribe Sector 9 came out swinging to kick off their New Years Eve run at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver would be an understatement. Thursday night’s show opened with “Havona Ascent,” a huge surprise for lucky attendants when considering that the track hadn’t been played by the band since 2004, effectively ending a 12-year drought.“Havona” set the tone for the first set and really for the rest of the show, with STS9 in proper form throughout. The first set also saw Tribe play “Ad Explorata” live for the first time (the title track off their 2012 album) as well as “Tooth” for the first time in well over a year, which was later worked back in during the “Poseidon” encore. You can peep the full setlist below, courtesy of Heady Flair, as well as a few clips from the night below.Clip of “Havona Ascent” courtesy of Heady FlairVideo of the second set closer “Out of this World” > “Rent” courtesy of Stephen Nicholas.Setlist: STS9 | The Fillmore Auditorium | Denver, CO | 12/29/16Set One: Havona Ascent*>> Ramone>> Tooth>> Ramone, Ad Explorata**, Shock Doctrine, Hi-Key, Grow, Give & Take, Light Years***, Hidden Hand Hidden Fist^Set Two: STS9, WTDS Reprise, This, Us>> Moonsocket, You Don’t Say>> 4 Year Puma, Out of this World%>> RentEncore: PoseidenShow Notes:*first Havona Ascent since 2004 the band took the stage to the opening sample being played on the pa and then played the song with amazing beauty.
