Unknowns rebound to rout Louie’s in 2014 Nelson Mixed Slopitch Championship Final

first_imgThe Unknowns took the unknown route to the 2014 Nelson Mixed Slopitch Championship Sunday afternoon at the Lakeside Diamonds, rebounding from a loss earlier in the day to blast Louie’s 13-2 in the tourney final.It’s the second consecutive year Louie’s lost in the final after winning the title in 2012.The Unknowns breezed through the early rounds of the tourney final before running into a brick wall in the A semis.Louie’s scored five in the first inning to take a 10-5 decision over the Unknowns and a bye into the championship final. The Unknowns then met Uptown Tavern in the back-door game to determine the finalist against Louie’s.The Unknowns made quick work of Uptown, posting a 20-12 victory.Uptown Tavern defeated Vince DeVito Shoes to advance to the knockout game against Unknowns.Then in a rematch of the top two regular season teams, the Unknowns routed Louie’s the second time around.Unknowns, under a different name, won the title in 2012.During the Canada Day weekend tourney in Salmo, the Unknowns won the C-division title.The 2014 crown makes it 14 of the last 20 Nelson Mixed Slopitch titles for the Unknowns, who won the crown under a variety of sponsors and team names.Molson Finley won the B event title while Hour Glass took home the C event crown.last_img
