(Photo by Leon Halip/Getty Images)We haven’t even gotten through a full weekend of college football yet, and we already have an early “Catch of the Year” candidate.Just before the end of the first half of tonight’s Minnesota-South Dakota State game, Golden Gophers wide receiver Rashod Bateman hauled in an incredible one-handed touchdown grab.On a 3rd-and-13 from the SDSU 42, Minnesota QB Tanner Morgan lofted a ball down the left sideline, where Bateman had beaten his defender. The safety help was late getting over, but the throw seemed to be just out of Bateman’s reach. Then this happened. Minnesota’s Rashad Bateman just made one of the best catches you’ll see all season. pic.twitter.com/1qEeZ8UaRP— Brian Fonseca (@briannnnf) August 30, 2019I mean, that is just tremendous concentration and hand-eye coordination on a dead sprint. You aren’t going to see too many grabs better than that this year.Minnesota missed the extra point, but maintains a 13-7 lead over the Jackrabbits at intermission. We’ll see if chasing that point comes back to haunt them later. For now, just watch that Bateman catch as many times as possible.
