Despite it being more or less Grand Theft Auto with horses, its vast open landscape, immersive gameplay, and enthralling story made it a legendary title overnight. It should come as no surprise that many folks are eagerly anticipating the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 this fall.As you may know, the original Red Dead Redemption was never released on PC — a fact which has irked the PC community for years. Thanks to a group of dedicated modders, the Western game is finally coming to PC.For the past two years, a group calling itself White Team have been working hard on bringing the entire Red Dead Redemption map into Grand Theft Auto V. According to a FAQ posted on GTAforums, the map is based on the Xbox 360 version of the game. The team is adding parallax occlusion mapping and tessellation where it is needed. They are also working on higher definition textures and a day-to-night cycle.Given the daunting nature of this endeavor, the team is looking for help. “We are mostly looking for programmers who are able to help us reverse engineer the file formats,” posted modder, Jestic. “We are also looking for scripters who are able to remake any of the game’s original content over to GTAV, think mini-games and certain mechanics such as Dead Eye Targeting.”The map is intended to be used in FiveM/FiveReborn and similar third-party online clients. It shouldn’t be used in GTA Online, according to the developers. Right now, there is no solid release date for this mod. The team hopes to have it available this summer just before Red Dead Redemption 2 drops. A trailer will be released at that time, so expect us to post that when it goes live.last_img
